Electric Utility GIS

IVS can assist you from the beginning stages of GPS collection, mapping, and up through full GIS implementation.

An electric utility has a tremendous amount of information to keep track of, and each piece of equipment is directly related to the other pieces along a given circuit.  What better application to manage all this data than a GIS?

IVS has developed a simple GIS interface that gives the user all the information that is needed through a simple user interface. Select a pole on-screen and you can then access all relevant information, such as the phase, pole arm length, whether or not it is fused, the conductor information, any and all taps, guys, transformers, service cables, and lights also on the pole. Further information can also be obtained such as retrieving specific transformer information.

IVS can also work with you to get your utility data GPS-ed and ready for the GIS application. We can assist you in creating your custom GPS data dictionary to meet the specific needs of your utility. At the same time, we can ensure that the data being collected meets the criteria of MultiSpeak if you feel that it is a necessary requirement.
